The Writing Connection
(Responding to Literature)
While
the major focus of this series is on language structures and reading
processes, every facet of writing is also important. From the basic
print conventions to the process of writing, every reading mini lesson
in this series is accompanied by a writing component. There are a
multitude of good titles on writing and the teaching of writing but
teachers, coaches, and parents are a student's best resource to see
writing put to use in everyday life.
In this section, we will work with two major learning elements:
- Basic Steps in the Writing Process.
- Ideas for combining reading and writing in the same instructional sets.
Sharing is the most important part of the writing process. Reading to a
partner for positive feedback throughout the process helps polish the
finished product. Writers write their works for readers to read;
process writing encourages both writer and reader to share a
committment to excellence.
