Most educators agree the ability to read is the most important skill for both classroom and independent learning.  While it is possible for a student to learn without this skill, the process is far more difficult and far less certain in its outcomes.  Aquisition of reading skills follows an identifiable pattern which starts soon after birth--even before the child is capable of meaningful cognition.  Linguistics tells us that during the first few month, the child engages in "babble speech" which produces almost the entire range of sounds making up all of the human languages.  At the same time, reading research tells us that a parent reading--not just speaking--with a child can set the pattern of a lifetime learner.
Using this as the basis of instructional practice, materials in this section are presented in a defined sequence.

The IVE Leaguer Sponsors and Members newsletter is published monthly by The IVE League, Incorporated, the foundation for Integrated Vocational Education (IVE). IVE is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization.  Its major emphasis is development of curriculum and support materials which blend academic education and career or vocational training into thematic learning units for presentation to the same students, in the same classrooms, at the same time.  As an adjunct activity, The IVE League also provides Internet-based fund raising services (including specialized fund management) to traditional schools, charter schools, and other registered community-based nonprofit organizations.
